Silene rotundifolia - Roundleaf Catchfly. I originally identified this as Silene virginica - Fire Pink, but S. virginica has narrower petals, and doesn't have the pronounced 'second spike' along the outer edge of the petal. The USDA Plants Database doesn't have this listed near Polk County, TN, where I photographed this specimen, and I don't have photographs of the rest of the plant, but I have a reasonably high level of confidence in that identificaiton. | Journal Articles Referencing Catchfly Leave comments on Silene rotundifolia at this link.
