Pycnanthemum incanum - Hoary Mountain Mint. Upper leaves have whitish tops. Dense flower clusters have coarse hairs making the cluster seem to be matted. Whitish flowers with purple spots. Crushed leaves have a very strong mint aroma.

Insect enjoying a sip of mint nectar from the purple-spotted blossom of Hoary Mountain Mint. The hairs growing from the calyx tips make the flower cluster seem matted. Blossom is about .2 inches across.

Hoary Mountain Mint blossoms in tight clusters at the end of the stems. The calyx has coarse hairs on the points, which give the inflorescence a matted look.
