Philadelphus lewisii - Lewis' Mock Orange, Indian Arrowwood, Syringa, California Mock Orange. Syringa (Lewis' Mock Orange) is one of 37 species in the Philadelphus - Mock Orange - genus in the U.S. While it is not a true Syringa (the genus name for lilacs,) that name is the one most commonly used name for the plant in Idaho, where it is the state flower. It is a bushy deciduous shrub that can grow more 10 feet high, and is covered with blossoms in spring.

The white blossoms of Lewis Mock Orange are borne in clusters at the end of long woody stems, and have a light, pleasing fragrance reminiscent of orange blossoms.
